Down is still the preferred fill for all high performance sleeping bags worldwide.

Loft is everything. It doesn't make any difference what colour the down is ( white, grey or blue!) and it makes little difference if it is from a Duck or a goose. Down will generally loft better if taken from older birds, as the plumes are larger and therefore have a larger surface area. Down loft is measured in cubic inches that one displaces, or the space it fills understandard conditions of temperature and humidity. Down measuring 400-450 is mediocre,500-600 is good and 650-700 is excellent. With the price of down almost doubling with every increase in rating you can see how important this factor is. The down in all Black Stag Sleeping Bags has a 700 loft rating. Because of the higher loft rating, you'll notice the difference with a Black Stag Sleeping Bag the moment you hop in one.
