Unfortunately, not on my back or in the freezer !
Went and checked out the 'Hooked on Boars' competition at Renwick a couple of weeks ago in the vain hope of winning the main spot prize of a Toyota Hilux.......with the usual result !! (second hand and not a Mitsi so I would have sold it anyway)
There was an awesome turnout with over one hundred boars weighed in, not to mention the assorted hares, possums etc from the young guns ! Big Howie Morrison Jnr and team were there hosting, and doing a bit of filming of the prize giving so keep an eye on Maori TV on Thursday nights for the result.
Top boar was in the high 70's with the top junior going about 60 kg. That prize was won by one of my workmates sons, Ben Hide. Young Ben walked off with a 32" flat screen TV, DVD player, book etc for his efforts - oh, and a huge grin !
This is a fantastic competion over 3 days and the main spot prize draw could be enetred by anyone as you didn't have to be present to win. I was however amazed at what occurred when the rifle prize was drawn.........
Despite it being very clear in the rules, and also announced before the draw was made, it took 4 attempts before someones name came out who had their firearms licence on their person, and who could therefore claim the prize ! Bet there's a few fella's kickin themselves for that slip up.
The Colville boys are coming on Thursday night for their annual trip, but unfortunately I leave for a weekend in Wellington on Friday......Murphy again ! Will try and get a report from one of the participants and post it soon.
Young Robbie heads of to Kruger National Park in South Africa next month.............getting married - the mad rash fool !! He's away for a month or so and promises me that the feet will be ready for a walk up his secret sika river by the time he gets back. I'm picking that will depend on the quality of the honeymoon !
Training for Wanaka is almost non existent due to flu, weather etc but I'll get there eventually.......just hope the bike can handle a few extra kilo's for a month or two.
