Have just started getting back into 'full on' training in preparation for this years Queen Charlotte Classic race in early November. After spending most of July more or less immobile due to back issues, it was good to get some miles under the belt....(they wouldn't fit on top of the belt due to tummy growth).
Most of August was building up tone with lots of K's in the new Blenheim pool and some wind-trainer and flat road running. Last week I decided it was time to start taking on the hills again and made a couple of fast trips up and over one of the Picton saddles. Reasonably step so the old pump was thundering around a bit but overall I was pleased with my efforts............then I blew my knee to bits running down the steep side on my third trip !
Well, 'blew to bits' is probably an overstatement, but its still swollen and sore 5 days later so something can't be right inside. Back to the pool and windtrainer until it comes right I guess.
Not allowed to complain apparently.........as was pointed out to me on the Coast to Coast training run a few years back......"Its not an injury unless the bone is sticking out !!"
Go the Black teams.......
